KA-TET THEATRE COMPANY
In July 2008 Purdue Theatre alums Dan Meisner (BA ‘07) and Suzanne Miller (BA ‘05) incorporated Ka-Tet Theatre Company to produce ensemble driven theatre focusing on a strong collaboration and cohesion between actors, directors and designers. The name of the company, Ka-Tet, means a group of people brought together by ka, or fate, to achieve a common goal. We believe that theatre is a collective experience, that theatre should be visceral; felt first and intellectualized later. We know that experience is only possible when there is an honest connective link, a symbiosis of audience and artist. We welcome each audience to bring their own unique collective experiences and energies to form, every performance, our Ka-Tet.
Born from a discussion the previous summer on a road trip from Chicago to West Lafayette, Dan and Suzanne expressed a desire to create theatre beyond the barriers of a hierarchy, in which inspiration from all involved would be treated with equal weight and respect. They were not surprised to hear excitement and anticipation from other artists when they spoke about such a company, and within the year, the basis of Ka-Tet Theatre was formed.
Dan and Suzanne hope their company will foster repeatable artistic relationships, and are initiating this process by inviting artists with whom they worked in their years at Purdue to join them in their endeavors. Ka-Tet Theatre now includes Caitlin Mick (BA ‘07), and they plan to be joined by more Boilermakers for their first production, Road, at Chicago’s Stage Left Theatre in August 2009. While the core of Ka-Tet Theatre is Purdue based, they are not strictly an alumni company, and expect to work with diverse artists from many backgrounds in the Chicago theatre community.

JOE MILLER
“Joe does incredible works using several different mediums, using a range of antiques, environments, and everyday objects as his canvas.”- Taylor Castle, photographer
Joe Miller recently received his MFA from the University of Chicago and his work can be seen on self-created Free Walls throughout the city and at the Empty Bottle.
“Every site offers an interesting potential related to presence, the logic of the activity itself, and its perpetual cycle. Yet these sites also gain an interesting perplexity through instances of collaboration…
…Exploration of these happenings relies on discovery as an indicator of progression and development. By entering an already flourishing life source through mild interference and formulation, I have gained a confidence in this procedure that enhances the dialogue between me, my work, observers, and participants.”
-Chicago Art Journal, 2008

PETER MCCULLOUGH
I have a philosophy of photography. Growing up during the troubles in Belfast, Northern Ireland, has led me to take a very direct approach to all aspects of my life. My instinct is to focus on the true nature of the subject or the idea, capturing it in a simple, natural, and uncluttered style.
I understand that photography, like every creative field, is purely subjective. Everyone has their own vision of how something should look or feel or come across. I want to capture that and realise it, whether it is in a studio setting or on a photojournalism assignment.
I have waited for hours for the right weather conditions and I have returned to the same location for weeks looking for the right light. I am dedicated to each job I take on and thrive on new challenges that blur the boundary between fine and commercial art.
