In My Heart Iz Open, composer Robert Honstein explores relationships in the digital age, bringing to life the tensions of romance and yearning in an online dating community, while also illuminating the strange ambiguity of the human/corporate dynamic.
A collaborative theatrical music project with Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente, My Heart Iz Open is supported here in a workshop performance by High Concept Laboratories.
This production of My Heart Iz Open also represents the inaugural presentation of Dal Niente’s WERKplaats series – a series inspired by the work of the 1970’s Asko Enemble, a composer-ensemble collective which presented works-in-process as part of a theatrical community, the better to develop and amplify the creative impact of a collaborative environment.
My Heart Iz Open is a development of a major theme in Robert Honstein’s body of work; the consideration of human interaction and intimacy in the virtual world.
